Vercel counts page views and measures page speed without cookies. Google Analytics runs only after you allow it. You can change that choice in the analytics settings below.

Mac shares short addresses of the form macanderson.com/l/name. Opening one sends you to a page on this site. The site records the time, the domain of the page you came from, and the country the request came from. It records no network address and sets no cookie. Mac uses the counts to see which shared links people open.

Subscribing#

When you subscribe, the site stores your email address, the name you give (if any), the topics you pick, and the time you subscribed. Mac uses them to send you new research, field manual updates, and news about his video series. Subscriber records stay in the site's private storage and are not sold.

To be removed, use the unsubscribe form or email mac@oxagen.sh. Removal deletes your record.

The assistant#

The assistant sends your question to a language model through Vercel's AI Gateway to write an answer. The site does not store your conversations. It counts requests per network address for a short time to stop abuse, and then forgets them. Do not type personal or secret information into the assistant.

Saved in your browser#

Your theme choice, field manual checklist, self-assessment answers, and analytics choice stay in your browser's storage. Google Analytics cookies are stored only when you allow Google Analytics.

Page views and speed#

Vercel Web Analytics counts page views. Vercel Speed Insights measures how quickly pages load and respond. These services collect page and device information without analytics cookies. See Vercel's analytics privacy information and Speed Insights privacy information.

Before sending a page address to either service, the site removes assistant questions, email parameters, and fragments. It keeps standard campaign tags such as utm_source, which identify where a shared link was posted. Admin pages and API routes are excluded.

Google Analytics#

If you allow it, Google Analytics 4 receives page views, campaign tags, referring addresses, and device information. Enhanced measurement also records scrolls, outbound clicks, file downloads, and form interactions. It uses cookies to distinguish visits. Mac uses these reports to learn which research people find and read.

The web stream redacts email addresses and private URL parameters, including assistant questions. Automatic site search does not collect the assistant's question parameter. Form events describe the form and its submit button, rather than the values entered in its fields. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in this integration. Google processes analytics data under its privacy policy.

Turning Google Analytics off stops this integration from sending more events and removes its analytics cookies from this browser. It does not delete data Google already received. Email mac@oxagen.sh about a data request.

Sign-in#

The admin page is for Mac. Signing in with Google sets a session cookie for that sign-in.

Hosting#

The site runs on Vercel. Vercel keeps standard server logs, such as request times and network addresses, to run the service.
